The Growing Partisan Divide on Evolution

Excerpt: Republicans who formerly believed in evolution aren’t being won over by creationists; rather, creationists are becoming more and more likely to identify as Republicans. It’s another aspect of the growing partisan divide in our country, with personal identity and belief-systems becoming increasingly intertwined with voting habits, and with religion becoming an increasingly important part of politics.
My comment:  Estrogen receptor α polymorphism in a species with alternative behavioral phenotypes showed that ecological variation results in alternative splicings of pre-mRNA and amino acid substitutions, which lead to chromosomal rearrangements and species divergence via ecological, social, neurogenic, and socio-cognitive niche construction, that occurs entirely outside the context of mutation-driven evolution in sparrows, but within the context of nutrient-dependent pheromone-controlled ecological adaptations in species from microbes to man. For contrast, Nei and Nozawa (2011) first eliminated ecological factors (e.g., because of space limitations) and then fulfilled their primary purpose, which was to clarify the roles of mutation and selection in evolution.

In their clarification via exclusion of biological facts , they noted that “…speciation by chromosomal rearrangements is also known to occur in yeasts and mammals…” Therefore, if you don’t have a problem with eliminating Darwin’s ‘conditions of life’ and proceeding to discuss mutation-initiated natural selection and speciation that incorporates mutations that are supposedly somehow fixed in DNA and are also beneficial, feel free to continue discussing evolutionary theory as if you knew something about it that could be compared to the biological facts of ecological adaptation.

In any case, the biological facts haven’t changed since Darwin’s time. Perhaps that’s why Darwin stressed them rather than simply making claims based on mathematical models.

This was an early example, which Bill Moyers noted, of how medical practitioners ignored what they had learned about mutation-driven evolution and treated the patient based on animal models of biologically based cause and effect involving the neural, endocrine, and immune processes of ecological adaptations, which are not like mathematical processes responsible for the nonsense of the partisan divide on evolution.
